Tough Words for Americans on a Sunday Morning

We are close to having lost the battle to preserve democracy in the United States!

The Trumpublican majorities in the Senate and Supreme Court can stop any legislation aimed at saving democracy so that it functions for the benefit of the people of the country, many of whom are beset by extreme hardship in these days of the Coronavirus Pandemic.  It looks as if we have lost.   Liberals should get that through their heads and stop dreaming.

Barack Obama recently said “It doesn’t matter how much money you make if everyone around you is hungry and sick…. Our society and democracy only works when we think not just about ourselves, but about each other.”    Barack dreams a lot.  Trumpublicans not only do not believe that, but they don’t understand it either!

The gullible and ignorant (in the sense of not having knowledge) of enough States to give Trump the presidency in 2016 will, I fear, triumph again and democracy here will not only be down the tube, but they will have successfully flushed it.  Prepare to live in that world.

That ain't a hoe in his right hand

Perhaps this might even flip the views of some liberals on Second Amendment rights!  “These are the times that try men’s souls,” (Thomas Paine in American Crisis -1776) words that make it clear why the Minuteman in all those Massachusetts statutes has a weapon at his side.

We are playing hardball.  The November election is the very last chance we will have to save democracy.  If Trump loses, he will go to the courts he has appointed to void the election and he has the cards in his hand to win there, guided by Bill Barr, whose name will go down in infamy, along with Pearl Harbor.  If Trump wins legitimately, it means that Americans care more for the things that really do not matter, are interested more in restoring an economic system (now in shambles) which they will have been convinced will solve all problems, than in battling the disease which brought this all about and do not really care for the downtrodden in our country.  Visit the ghettos of our major cities, where unemployment is as severe a disease as the Coronavirus, and weep.

Short of the President recognizing his failure to deal with the Coronavirus and resigning (pray for that daily) , or a cabal of military and government officials, even Republicans, striding into his office and making him do so, as often happens in Third World countries, the only thing you can do is vote, and not only for Trump’s White House opponent in November, but for any and all Democrats on your ballot.  Republicans can no longer stride a "middle ground."  They either are the President's enablers or real Americans, like you and me.  They either share his jaundiced views or do not.  Period.

A Democratic victory in November has to be OVERWHELMING, in order to stand up to the phony legal challenges the Trumpublicans are certain to come up with.  And that degree of “overwhelmingness” is dependent on your vote and those of those you register to vote.  Spare no effort.

I hope too many people do not unnecessarily die who would not have done so … if Donald Trump, and the nonsense he spouts, had never  existed.
